Face Mask Care 101
Masks are now an essential part of everyday life. You gotta pop one on for going to get groceries all the way to a long day of work at the office…if you have to go in. Knowing masking is a part of your daily grind, you took the time to find the one that best suits you. It fits perfectly on your face, shows off your personality, and you can breathe through it comfortably. Well, here are 5 friendly tips to keep your fabric mask the best it can be.
- Wash your mask daily. Follow fabric instructions to wash in a washing machine (warm water, no bleach, light detergent) or by hand. Treat it like you would treat your underwear.
- Dry your masks fully before wearing them. Put them in a warm or hot dryer. If you’re worried about your earloops losing elasticity, try drying them directly in the sun.
- If you need to take your mask off temporarily and don’t know what to do, put your mask in a paper bag. The breathability of the paper bag lets you carry it/store it in a safe place before you need to put it back on again. Hey, it worked when we were kids for our lunches.
- Try refreshing your with a mask spray. Mask sprays offer that help for when your mask gets a little too real for your nose. Try one with your favourite essential oil to give it a nice fragrant kick and to help with odor or look for unscented ones if you’re scent sensitive.
- This one isn’t a tip per se about keeping the mask, it’s more a tip for you when using a mask. Wash/sanitize your hands after touching a mask that’s been used/worn. Imagine that you just touched something that was sticky for no apparent reason. What would you do? Obviously “wash your hands as soon as possible!”.
These helpful tips are just a couple ways to keep the favourite mask you have around for as long as possible. Now go out there and put on a mask-y face!
